OVERVIEW

Domain: Health & Physical Education

 

Term 3: Invasion Games

 

Utilising the SEPEP program students participated in the modified Australian Rules football game known as AFL 9’s. Within the program students developed the appropriate football skills and began learning and demonstrating the basic tactics involved within this sport in a safe and supportive competitive environment. Students were also allocated roles (coach, captain, team manager etc.) and with teacher support and guidance performed these positions throughout this unit.

 

Term 4: Net Wall Games/Tag Games/Fitness Testing

 

Utilising the SEPEP program students participated in the Net Wall game of Volleyball. Within the program students developed the appropriate volleyball skills of “digging”, “setting” and “serving” and began learning and demonstrating the basic tactics involved within this sport in a safe and supportive competitive environment. Students were also allocated different roles to those in term 3 (coach, captain, team manager etc.) and with teacher support and guidance performed these positions throughout this unit. Students participated in a structured round robin competition against their peers and played off against other grades in their level in a final series.

 

Students participated in a range of Tag games & activities with and without equipment, with the aim to allow students to experience and understand the purpose of these games in a fun and safe environment.

 

Students also participated in a range of fitness tests and compared their results to those obtained during term 1. Students reflected on their results and discussed options on how to maintain/improve these results moving into the future.
